This is a review of another recording from Krayl with the musical style this time around going for more of a raw and depressive form of ambient black metal sound with the ep being called "Froide Et Sombre" and released by Imperial Damnation Records.
"The River Of Blood" starts off the ep with fast, raw and primitive sounding guitar riffs and blast beats from the drums which also lead up to some grim black metal screams as well as background ambient sounds and a minute later synths take over along with ritualistic chanting.
"The Call Of The Night" begins with fast, raw and primitive sounding black metal guitar riffs along with blast beats from the drums a few seconds alter before adding in grim vocals and a couple of minutes later the music slows down and synths take over and take the song into a dark ambient direction.
"Burning The Righteous" opens up with nature sounds and a few seconds alter fast, raw and primitive sounding black metal guitar riffs and drums kick in before adding in the grim vocals and halfway through the song synths take over take the song into a dark ambient direction along with spoken word ritualistic chanting and then returns back to the heavier parts.
"As We Travel Across The Filthy Lands" which is also the last song on the ep begins with dark sounding guitar riffs and bells along with drum beats a few seconds later which leads up to a more fast, raw and primitive direction along with grim black metal vocals before slowing down and adding in dark ambient sounds from the synths and then adding in spoken word parts for awhile and then returning to a black metal direction.
Song lyrics cover Darkness, Satanism and Occultism themes, while the production has a very dark, raw and primitive sound to it.
In my opinion this is another great sounding ep from Krayl and if you are a fan of raw black metal mixed with dark ambient, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The River Of Blood" and "Burning The Righteous". RECOMMENDED BUY.
