Vyre are a band from Germany that plays an interstellar form of black metal and this is a review of their 2013 album "The Initial Frontier Part 1" which was released by Supreme Chaos Records.
"Small Bang Theory" which is the first song on the album starts with space sounds and serves as an intro for the album.
"The Initial Frontier" opens up with heavy guitar riffs and drums that utilize some blast beats along with some synths in the background as well as melodic guitar riffing and then the song slows down along with some spoken word samples and a minute later black metal screams come in as well as some guitar leads that come in and out of the song and the music alternates between slow and fast parts as well as throwing in a good amount of diverse elements and atmosphere.
"Fragile Equilibrium" starts with some heavy and melodic guitar riffs along with some drums and synths before adding in grim black metal vocals and a minute later the music speeds up a bit before adding in some classic rock style guitar solos and jazz style pianos as well as violins for awhile before getting heavy again
"Coil Of Pipes" begins with some soft acoustic guitar playing and a few seconds later synths and drum beats come in along with some powerful bass guitars and melodic guitar leads and a minute later the music gets really fast along with some blast beats which lead up to some grim black metal screams and then it starts alternating between slow, mid paced and fast parts and halfway through the song guitar solos start coming in and out and the riffing also gets more melodic and towards the end acoustic guitars make their return.
"Digital Dreams" kicks off with some spoken word parts and sound effects and a few seconds later heavy and melodic guitar riffs kick in along with some drums and bass guitars which also lead up to some black metal vocals and then guitar leads start coming in and out of the song which also lead up to some powerful sounding synths and the guitars start utilizing more melody.
"Miasma" which is also the last song on the album opens up with some heavy guitar riffs and drums before adding in some melody and synths and then the black metal vocals kick in and after awhile the song starts utilizing some avant garde elements in the background which also lead up to some melodic sounding guitar solos and leads and the song and album closes with acoustic guitars.
Song lyrics cover science fiction themes, while the production has a very strong, powerful, heavy and professional sound to it.
In my opinion Vyre are a very great sounding interstellar black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Initial Frontier" and "Digital Dreams". RECOMMENDED BUY.
