Adventum Diaboli Interview

 1. Can you give us an update on what is going on with the band these days?
First of all we are glad that your great site took an interview from our band. So, Adventum Diaboli has so far produced two full length albums, a split and a demo and now we are on recording and mixing our third album Rise Of The Pagans. We hope that by the end of this year the album will be ready for sale! However, except of our studio work our band rearranges its basic line up. We (Panas –drums and Leviathan –guitars) the basic members try to insure our basic line up, but more details later in our official facebook page Adventum Diaboli. That is not the happiest thing for us but we also try to be devoted to our third album preparation!

2.How would you describe the musical sound that has been on the albums, demo and split and also how does each release differ from each other?
‘’I told the producer, give me the worst microphone you have…We didn’t do anything to make the drum sound quality better…Then we used a tiny Marshall amplifier for the guitars..’’ these are some words of one of the fathers of old school black metal in the documentary ‘’Until the light takes us’’ , Varg Vikernes. Another great personality of the genre in the same documentary, Fenriz, says that Black Metal should sound old, raw and cold.  We totally agree with these sayings of our inspirators. We manage to create an occult atmospheric low-quality sound that reminds memories from the past, gives images from the Underworld and provokes cold thrills to the listeners body. In one word, we try to spread old school Black Metal to Greece.

For the second scale, our first album Lies of the Priest covers totally satanic and mainly anti-christian themes, it is powerful and of course our first work publiced! The second album Luciferium speaks mainly about occultism, Satanism and generally about spiritualism. Here our music becomes more ambient, adopts a depressive character and the melodic synths play a main role in the whole project. Now the demo follows the first album concept as we recorded that after that (before Luciferium) and the split contains songs from Luciferium; the guy from Darkehl is a friend of ours and decided to spread our interest there! Now on the third album we expand to paganistic themes, mythology and pantheon, while the music keeps its ambient, melodic and low tempo elements.

3.The lyrics on the recordings have cover Paganism, Satanism, Occultism and Anti Christian topics can you tell us a little bit more about your interest in these topics?
Well, as we grew older we were seeing that Christianity, the ‘’official’’ religion had nothing to offer to us. We saw everyone on the one hand preaching about Christianity and on the other hand put their hands in ‘’mud’’, that means they were corrupted. Many of them were priests. Then we got angry about that- this was not Christianity. People should learn the true meaning of this religion. So we started this project to show them their enemy, Lucifer, and his powers. In addition, Christianity was the religion that buried the ancient Greek spirit; on every ancient temple Christians built a church. A bit similar story to Norway, the hometown  of black metal. Finally, we had the interest to regenerate the ancient Greek traditions and we will do it with paganistic lyrical themes.

4.Has the band done any live shows or is this strictly a studio project?
Our band life is only a year which is a short period of time. However, the absence of time and preparation is not the reason we didn’t do a live show neither is that we stay only at studio. We have programmed a live in our small town but the community was so harsh towards us. I would say we suffered religious-social racism!!!!! We promise although that no other programmed live will be canceled and we will get our asses in front of people really soon!!!!

5.Recently, you put out a split with Darkhel, what are your thoughts on the other band that participated on the album?
The one man band Darkehl is really close to us in a friendly way. He has the same thoughts and ideas with us so we decided to join our wrath together in the name of Black Metal. We think Darkehl is a really prominent guy for the genre. However, now is really interested in the Gore genre, aka Gore Noise.

6.Currently you are unsigned, are you looking for a label or have received any interest?
Now we are unsigned. However, some guys suggested us to take our CD album Luciferium and release it as a tape to their sites. These are Infernal Kommando and Depressive Illusions. Go to theri site and buy it! Thank these guys. Look, we wouldn’t say no to a record company, but even in the far future we want to keep our original musical expression with no one’s interference whatever the cost is…

7.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of black metal?
Fortunately, these two companies helped us spread our music worldwide. As we see by the likes on our Facebook page, people like our stuff. Many Scandinavians liked our page and that is a major point for us. These know our music, our purpose, they can understand everything even the quality. So people that know about this genre comments positively on us!!! We try to do our best for you amazing guys!! \m/ Of course there are these who don’t have a mere fucking clue and don’t give a shit about our stuff! (most of them are Greeks) Always, of course, are these Greeks who help us a lot in any way and by any means!!!

8.Are there any other musical projects besides this band?
Not at all. We are fully dedicated to our Black Metal Adventum Diaboli project. The drummer Panas had a thrash metal band, but now only Adventum fucking Diaboli!!! \m/

9.What direction do you see your music heading into on future releases?
We hope that our releases will get more and more in the future of course with the help of our supporters. We are optimistic cause we carry a lot of passion about music generally and black metal more specifically. Besides, we gather some ideas already about our fourth album, which will step the fields of Depressive Suicidal Black Metal, ambient and blackgaze genres. We also epect to be closers to our fans by playing often on the stage!

10.What are some bands or musical styles that have influenced your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
Of course our major influences are the fathers, the music revolutioners, cause Black Metal is revolution, the creators of this genre, the first Norwegian black metal bands Mayhem, Darkthrone, Burzum, Gorgoroth, Satyricon…Also other black metal bands-revolutioners such as Venom and Celtic Frost. The catalog of our black metal ispirators is endless (Urgehal, Xasthur, Thy light, Thy Antichrist, Old, Power from hell  and more), everything that supports Old School Black Metal with raw, old and cold sound. Also there are some important Hellenic Black Metal bands like Unholy Ritual and Kawir. Apart from that we really like and listen today death metal bands with brutal music and lyrics, like Deicide and Cannibal Corpse, and everything else against the flawless sound production, such as grindcore bands Terrorizer, Napalm Death.

11.Outside of music what are some of your interests?
Apart from music, we really like sports. Specifically, football and martial arts. In addition, we have our studies at the university and other members their jobs. The most important is that we love gathering as Friends; that keeps the band closer.

12.Any final words or thoughts before we wrap up this interview?
Thank you very much about this full topic interview and about your amazing review – keep supporting new black metal bands dude!! Plus, thanks to all of our fans for their help and support! We trully need you and we hope to get more!!! And everyone remember: once you go black you never go back!!! Keep the black metal fire alive guys!!    We wait you on our pages soon!!! \m/ \m/ \m/
