Invocacion are a 1 man band from Columbia that plays a very raw and melodic form of occult black metal and this is a review of his self released 2013 ep "Anthology Cosmic Nefarium".
"Under The Sign Of Macrocosm' which intro for the ep opens up with nature sounds and bells before adding in synths.
"Journey To The Cosmic Depths" which is also the first official song on this recording starts with raw and melodic black metal guitar riffing and drums and a few seconds later grim vocals kick in along with a mixture of clean and distorted playing and you can also hear some bass guitars along with the song alternating between slow,, mid paced and fast.
"Evig" begins with mid paced old school black metal guitar riffs, drums and grim screams before adding in bass guitars and clean sections and the song alternates between clean and distorted parts along with a brief use of dark sounding melodies as well as speeding up for awhile and adding in blast beats.
'Dark Skies Worship" opens up with soft and clean guitar playing and a few seconds later it goes into a more heavy, fast, raw and primitive direction along with grim screams and blast beats and then goes into a mid paced direction and adds in a small amount of melodic guitar leads as well as throwing melody in the rhythms and then the song goes back to being fast again before alternating between mid paced and fast parts.
"Invocation Of the Black Circle" starts up with soft and clean guitar playing before going into a more fast and raw black metal direction with the guitar riffs as well as adding in blast beats and grim screams as well as adding in melodic and mid paced parts as well as bringing back the clean sections briefly before alternating between mid paced and fast parts.
"Prelude Camino Al Cavario" which is also the closing outro of the ep begins with dark and evil synths along with grim black metal vocals and a few seconds later guitars are added in and towards the end bass and guitar solos are added in..
Lyrics cover Luciferian and Occultism themes, while the production has a very dark, raw and primitive sound while you can still hear all of the musical instruments that are present on this ep.
In my opinion Invocacion are a very great sounding raw and melodic occult black metal project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Journey To The Cosmic Depths" and "Invocation Of the Black Circle". RECOMMENDED BUY.
