Tukaaria are a 1 man band from California that plays an atmospheric form of black metal and this is a review of his 2011 album "Raw to The Rapine" which was re-issued by Fallen Empire Records during the year of 2013.
"Origins" which is also the first song on the album opens up with fast, raw and black metal guitar riffs, blast beats from the drums and some background atmosphere and then the grim sounding high pitched screams kick in which also utilize depressive elements at times and during the last minute the music goes into a slower direction.
"Raw To The Rapine" which is also the title track kicks in with slow atmospheric black metal guitar riffs and drums and you can also some bass guitars in the background before the grim screams kick in which also leads to the guitar riffing utilizing some dark sounding melodies and then the music speeds up a bit along with blast beats as well as the vocals getting more depressive.
"Chasms In Creation" begins with drum beats before adding in some fast and raw black metal guitar riffs as well as utilizing some blast beats which also leads to some deep demonic growls a few seconds later and the song utilizes a good amount of bestial black metal elements.
"Prehistoric Science" starts up with some fast, raw and primitive black metal guitar and bass riffs along with some blast beats from the drums before the grim screams kick in and during the last minute of the song t here is a brief use of clean singing vocals.
"Glorifying Atrophy" starts off with slow guitar riffs before the black metal screams and then the music goes into a more fast, raw and primitive direction along with some blast beats from the drums and you can also hear some fast bass guitar riffing in the song and at times the music slows down for a couple of seconds only to return to a more fast and brutal direction.
"Transfixion" which is also the last song on the album begins with slow, atmospheric black metal guitar and bass riffs along with some drums and the guitar riffing also utilizes some melody along with a small amount of guitar leads before going into a more mid paced direction and the song is all instrumental.
Song lyrics cover pre-historic and mysticism themes, while the production has a very dark, raw and primitive sound while you can still hear all of the musical instruments that are present on this recording.
In my opinion Tukaaria are a very great sounding atmospheric black metal project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Origins" and "Chasms In Creation". RECOMMENDED BUY.
