This is the final review of a recording from Myrrdin which continues their dungeon synth sound while also bringing back the black metal elements with the album being called "Broga Fram Anne Ealdne Geardagas" which was released by Akousmatikoi Undergound.
"Geardagas(Intro)" brings the album with nature sounds and dungeon style synths which also bring an a medieval feeling.
"First Meteria" which is also the first official song on the album begins with heavy black metal guitar riffs, drums and grim screams as well as a small amount of deeper vocals and melodic guitar riffing and then the song alternates between mid paced and fast parts.
"Dark Magik Ritual" opens up with avant garde ambient sounds, synths and melodic guitar leads before adding in some rhythms and the song is all instrumental.
"The Chapel Of Manes" starts up with nature sounds before adding in distorted black metal guitar riffing which also utilizes melodic leads at times and a few seconds alter drum beats kick in along with grim black metal screams shortly after that and halfway through the song there is a brief sue of spoken word parts and the song sticks to a more slow to mid paced black metal direction.
"Lynchgate" is an instrumental that starts off with nature sounds and stays in that direction for a minute.
"Gravity And Oppressing (The Unrepentant)" returns the heaviness with fast and raw black metal guitar riffs along with blast beats and grim vocals and after awhile synths and spoken word parts are added in certain parts of the song as well as going into a slower direction and alternating between fast and slow parts and the song closes with nature sounds.
'Edicts Of The Malefactor" which is also a re-recorded track from a previous demo begins with nature sounds before adding in distorted black metal guitar riffing and ambient synths and a minute later you can also hear drum beats slowly coming in.
"Nihtbrogas Begeondan Se Byrgen" begins with slow and depressive black metal guitar riffs and drums along with grim vocals a few seconds later and after a couple of minutes dark sounding melodies and synths are mixed into the song along with a small amount of guitar leads.
"Mors et Fugacem Persequitur Vrum" which is also the last song on the album starts up with silent nature sounds and a few seconds later distorted guitars start creeping in and a few minutes alter synths take over and take the music into a dark ambient direction
Song lyrics cover Occultism and Metaphysics themes, while the production has a very dark, raw and primitive sound along with some of the songs being long and epic in length.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Myrrdin and if you are a fan of atmospheric occult black metal mixed with dungeon synth, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "First Meteria" "The Chapel Of Manes" and "Nihtbrogas Begeondan Se Byrgen". RECOMMENDED BUY.
