Krayl are a 1 man band from India that plays an ambient form of black metal and this is a review of his 2012 ep "Von Dusteren Welten" which was released by Imperial Damnation Records.
"Dieselharp Labyrinth" which is also the first song on the ep opens up with dark ambient drone sounds and a minute later slow black metal/ambient guitars are added in along with some programmed drums and grim sounding screams for a few seconds before returning back to dark ambient and then alternating between black metal and drones.
"Lost In The Subterranean Filth" begins with dark ambient synths and atmospheric drones and a few seconds later drum programming and heavy guitars kick in and mix in with the atmosphere along with black metal vocals and then the song alternates between ambient and black metal parts and towards the end there are some spoken word parts and asylum sounds being utilized.
"Beautiful Schizophrenic Episode" starts up with atmospheric dark ambient synths which also bring in elements of classical music and a few seconds later drone style guitars, programmed drum beats and grim sounding black metal screams kick in and become a part of the song.
"Shadows Of Mutilated Elves" which is also the last song on the ep opens up with drones and dark ambient synths and a minute later heavy guitars and drum beats kick in while also keeping the drone and ambient elements as well as adding in grim black metal vocals.
Song lyrics cover dark and depressive themes, while the production has a very dark, raw and primitive sound to it.
In my opinion Krayl are a very great sounding ambient black metal project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Dieselharp Labyrinth" and "Beautiful Schizophrenic Episode". RECOMMENDED BUY.
