Unhappy are a band from Turkey that plays a very depressive form of black metal and this is a review of their self released 2013 album "Dear God, Thanks For the Suicide Option".
"Past Is Your Enemy" which is also the first song on the album opens up with dark depressive ambient black metal sounds and guitars along with some drum programming and a minute later the music gets faster along with grim sounding high pitched screams before slowing down again.
"Between Uterus And The Tomb(Our Grand Despair)" begins with drone style guitar riffs along with some depressive black metal screams and you can hear dark ambient sounds being utilized in the background.
"I Am Not Dead, I Am Not Alive" opens up with slow black metal guitar riffs, drum programming and deep death metal growls which also utilize depressive black metal elements and the song sticks to a slow direction.
"Suicide Is The Name Of An Angel" starts up with slow riffs that combine drone, melody and depressive black metal together along with drum beats and suicidal screams and cries and the same sticks to the same formula for 3 minutes.
"I'm Only Happy When It's Dark" comes in with slow, dark, raw and heavy guitar riffs along with drum beats and depressive black metal vocals and screams and the song uses the same riffs for 5 minutes.
"I Don't Even Know Why I'm Still Alive" kicks in with slow and dark depressive black metal guitar riffs along with some drum beats and depressive black metal vocals a few seconds later and as the song moves on there are also some use of melodic guitar riffing.
"Where Are You Satan" makes its way in with ambient black metal guitar riffs and drum beats and a few seconds later depressive vocals start making their way into the song along with some dark sounding melodies.
"Suicide Lullaby" is introduced with heavy drone style guitar riffs and drum beats as well as high pitched depressive black metal screams and then the song goes into a slow dsbm direction till the closing part.
"I'm Gonna Kill Myself And You'll Not Even Know" is brought in with dark lo-fi depressive black metal guitar riffs, ambient synths, drum beats and grim screams and the song utilizes the same riff throughout the song.
"Barbarian Suicidal Black Fucking Metal" which is also the last song on the album begins with deep growls and heavy mid paced guitar riffs along with some drum beats and the song is more upbeat than than the previous ones.
Song lyrics cover suicidal and depressive themes, while the production has a very dark, raw and primitive sound to it.
In my opinion Unhappy are a very great sounding depressive black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Past Is Your Enemy" "Suicide Is The Name Of An Angel" "Suicide Lullaby" and "Barbarian Suicidal Black Fucking Metal". RECOMMENDED BUY.
