Morktar are a band from the United Kingdom that plays raw and misanthropic form of black metal and this is a review of their self released 2013 live demo "Dead In London".
"Before the Firing Squad" which is also the first song on the demo opens up with raw and fast black metal guitar riffs and drums before adding in deep and grim vocals and the song sticks to mostly a mid paced direction but speeds up in certain sections along with a small amount of blast beats.
"Disconnected Souls Pt. I" begins with drums along with some mid paced black metal guitar riffing and grim vocals shortly after that as well as high pitched screams and the song does not get either too fast or slow.
"Disconnected Souls Pt. II" opens up with some raw and primitive black metal guitar riffs, drums and grim screams before adding in a mixture of fast and mid paced parts along with a brief use of blast beats.
"Inhalation Of Death" which is also the last song on the demo starts up with raw black metal guitar riffs and drums and a few seconds later screams kick in and the song sticks to an old school mid paced black metal direction.
Song lyrics cover dark and misanthropic themes, while the production has a very, dark, raw and primitive sound to it with all of the songs being recorded live.
In my opinion Morktar are a very great sounding misanthropic black metal and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Before the Firing Squad" and "Inhalation Of Death". RECOMMENDED BUY.
