Svart are a one man band from Sweden that has the bass player from Shining with a musical style I would describe as being raw and depressive black metal and this is a review of his 2013 album "Det Personliga Helvetets Spiral" which was released by Art Of Propaganda.
"Genon Forgangelsens Dimmor'' which is the first track on the album opens up with some clean guitars before adding in heavy guitar riffs and drums which also lead up to some grim sounding depressive screams before returning to a cleaner direction and adding in some clean singing and then the song alternates between heavy and clean parts as well as utilizing both clean and black metal vocals along with some synths.
"De Ogundakitigas Abyss" starts off with heavy modern black metal guitar riffs and drums along with some melodic elements and a minute later grim screams start to kick in and the song sticks to a more mid paced and atmospheric direction.
"Hadanfard" kicks off with some organs which bring a classical music feeling to to song and the music as all instrumental.
"I Bulimia Nervosos Valde" returns the album back to its metal roots with some heavy guitar riffs and drums as well as some melodic guitar leads and a few seconds later demonic growls and depressive black metal screams make their way into the song and after awhile their is a brief use of violins before going into a softer and cleaner direction along with some acoustic guitars and spoken word parts while also keeping around the black metal vocals which leads up to the music getting heavy again and towards the end the music speeds up along with some blast beats.
"Suicidiums Evinnerliga Bavan' begins with heavy and dark sounding guitar riffs before adding in some drums and bass guitars and a few second later black metal screams make their presence known in the song along with some raw and atmospheric guitar riffing and you can hear some synths in the background and towards the end the music starts utilizing some classical music elements.
"Moder Jords Svartade Skote" opens with a classical music orchestra and utilizes a great amount of dark atmosphere and a minute later heavy guitar riffs come in along with a small amount of classical guitars before going into drums and the music speeds up with some black metal screams and blast beats along with some melodic guitar riffing and after awhile the music slows down along with the classical guitars returning in certain sections of the song and towards the end the music gets heavy again along with some aggressive yet somewhat melodic vocals and the song closes with the faster elements.
"Agnosis" which is the last song on the album begins with some synths and an orchestra and the song is all instrumental.
Song lyrics are written in Swedish and cover Darkness, Existential Issues, Hate and Occultism themes, while the production has a very strong, powerful, heavy and dark sound along with some of the songs being long and epic in length.
In my opinion Svart are a very great sounding raw, heavy, atmospheric and depressive black metal project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording.
