Tjolgtjar are a 1 man band from Illinois that plays a psychedelic form of satanic/occult black metal and this is a review of his 2012 album "Under Command Of Tjolgtjar" which was released by Dipsomaniac Records.
"Intro" starts up with ritualistic sound effects and black metal screams to introduce the album.
"Riding With the Devil's Bitch" the first real song on the album begins with raw black metal guitar and bass riffing along with some psychedelic sound effects before adding in some grim screams as well as melodic riffing and halfway through the song there is a brief sue of blast beats being utilized.
"A Satanic Orgy Under The Command Of Tjolgtjar" opens up with fast raw and primitive black metal guitar riffs, blast beats and grim vocals and a minute later it slows down and goes into a more mid paced direction along with some melodic guitar riffing as w ell as alternating between mid paced and fast parts and mixing in some guitar leads and towards the end there is a brief use of pianos.
"Cleaning Up The Streets" begins with fast, raw and primitive black metal guitar riffs, drums and psychedelic sounds before adding in some grim vocals and laughter and the song only lasts 2 minutes.
"The Strong Repentance" comes in with fast raw and primitive black metal guitar riffs and blast beats before adding in some high pitched screams and the song is very short in length and only over 2 minutes.
''This Means War" kicks in with guitar leads and drums and a few seconds alter it goes into a fast black metal direction along with blast beats and grim screams before slowing down and adding in psychedelic elements.
"Takin The Woods" is introduced with drums and classic rock style guitar riffs and a few seconds alter it goes into a more black metal direction along with some grim screams and you can hear back up vocals in the background a s well as some melodic guitar and bass riffing.
"In The Forest Of The Impaled" makes it way on the album with grim black metal screams, drums, and raw guitar riffs along with blast beats and the song sticks to an old school black metal direction.
"Possessed Nun' which is also the last real song on the album opens up with raw black metal guitar and bass riffs along with drums and grim screams and slows down a few seconds alter and melody and classic rock elements start coming in before going back to the fast black metal parts as well as alternating between different musical styles as well as mixing in psychedelic elements.
"Outro" closes the album with sound effects and black metal screams
Song lyrics cover Satanism and Occultism themes, while the production has a very dark, raw and primitive sound to it.
In my opinion Tjolgtjar are a very great sounding satanic psychedelic black metal project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Riding With the Devil's Bitch" "This Means War" and "Possessed Nun". RECOMMENDED BUY.
