Ab Eterno are a duo from Guatemala that plays a very noisy form of black metal and this is a review of their self released 2013 demo "Forever Black Metal, Possessed My Heart".
"Angst" which is also the first song on the demo opens up with dark ambient sounds and after a couple of minutes melodic guitar leads start to kick in and the song is all instrumental and serves as an intro for the album.
"Blasphemy" begins with distorted noises before adding in some raw and primitive guitar riffs that use of mixture of mid paced and fast riffing along with some deeper black metal vocals and as the song moves on they start utilizing some depressive elements and there are no bass guitars and drums present on this song.
"I Will Continue Playing This Song" kicks in with ethnic music sounds that have almost a new age feeling to them along with some World War II samples and after a couple of minutes slow black metal riffs are also added into the song while also keeping around the other elements.
"Grey Autumn" opens up with slow and melodic sounding black metal guitar riffs and clean singing female vocals and after awhile black metal screams start to make their presence known in the song and the music starts getting a little bit more heavier.
"Forever Black Metal, Possessed My Heart" which is also the title track of the demo begins with slow and dark sounding black metal guitar riffs along with some drums being utilized as well as the guitar riffing having a small amount of melody and then the black metal screams kick in which also leads to a small amount of blast beats that also come in and out of the song.
"Lunatic" makes its way in with some slow and raw black metal guitar riffs and the song stays in the same direction until the end as well as being all instrumental and having no vocals or other musical instruments present.
"Fear" which is also the last song on the demo opens up with clean and dark sounding guitar playing which gives the music a black ambient vibe as well as adding in synths and the song is another instrumental.
Song lyrics cover darkness, blasphemous and black metal themes, while the production has a very dark, raw and primitive sound to it.
In my opinion Ab Eterno are a very great sounding noisy black metal duo and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this demo. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Blasphemy" and "Forever Black Metal, Possessed My Heart". RECOMMENDED BUY.
